Business Classification Schemes
A Business Classification Scheme (BCS) utilises hierarchical terminology, based on the analysis of business functions, to
create controlled vocabulary and ensure consistency when classifying information. The BCS can be utilised by business
areas to set up folder structures, both physical and electronic, in share drives and workgroup systems to facilitate
searching, retrieval, disposal, security controls and reporting.
